General Information

The Medical Laboratory Sciences Program is designed to prepare qualified laboratory professionals who are able to perform diagnostic laboratory tests accurately, safely, and ethically. The program provides students with strong theoretical knowledge and practical skills in different laboratory disciplines, including clinical chemistry, hematology, microbiology, parasitology, immunology, histopathology, blood banking, molecular diagnostics, and laboratory quality management.

The program aims to graduate competent medical laboratory scientists who can support disease diagnosis, treatment monitoring, prevention, and public health services through reliable laboratory results and professional laboratory practice.

Mission

The mission of the Medical Laboratory Sciences Program is to provide high-quality education and practical training in laboratory medicine, develop students’ professional, analytical, technical, and research skills, promote safe and ethical laboratory practice, and prepare graduates who are capable of meeting local and regional healthcare needs.

Program Objectives

By the end of the program, graduates will be able to:

  1. Apply scientific knowledge in basic medical sciences and laboratory medicine.

  2. Perform laboratory tests accurately using appropriate methods and equipment.

  3. Collect, handle, process, and store biological specimens safely and correctly.

  4. Interpret laboratory requests and produce reliable laboratory results under professional standards.

  5. Apply infection control, biosafety, and biosecurity principles in laboratory practice.

  6. Operate and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment properly.

  7. Demonstrate competence in clinical chemistry, hematology, microbiology, parasitology, immunology, histopathology, blood banking, and molecular diagnostics.

  8. Apply quality assurance and quality control procedures in medical laboratories.
