Sheikan College Approaches Graduation Milestone

On Friday, September 4, 2026, Sheikan College in El Obeid witnessed the launch of the final practical clinical examination in Obstetrics and Gynecology for the first cohort of students in the Medicine and Surgery Program, during the ninth academic semester. A total of 69 male and female students participated in the examination, which was attended by prominent college officials, representatives from Imam Al-Mahdi University and the University of Kordofan, as well as several external examiners and Obstetrics and Gynecology consultants from the state.
During his inspection of the examination, Prof. Ahmed Abdullah Agabaldour, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Sheikan College, stated that the first cohort represents the culmination of the college's efforts to prepare qualified medical professionals. He explained that the college is preparing to send them into the workforce and to serve local, Sudanese, and regional communities.
He noted that this was the first time the examination had been conducted on the college premises, using the Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) system, rather than being held in hospitals. He emphasized that this step reflects the college's commitment to strengthening its own capabilities and improving the quality of the educational process.
Agabaldour further stated that the college had fully prepared 20 examination stations, with the participation of more than 30 examiners from different parts of Sudan. They were led by the external examiner for Obstetrics and Gynecology, Prof. Ali Mohammedain of Imam Al-Mahdi University, and Dr. Mohammed Haroun of the University of Kordofan.
He said that the students had received comprehensive preparation, including classroom teaching as well as field and clinical training. He expressed his hope that the first graduating cohort would make a meaningful contribution to medical practice and serve as ambassadors of the college in their various communities.
For his part, Prof. Abdelsalam Mohammed Hamad El-Faki, Dean of Sheikan College, described conducting the clinical examination on the college premises as a first-of-its-kind experience and a significant qualitative advancement. He affirmed that the college had mobilized all of its available resources to ensure the success of the examination, commending the efforts of the external examiners, supervising committees, and college staff in organizing the examination process.
In the same context, Dr. Loay Saber, Coordinator of the Medicine and Surgery Program, confirmed that the successful examination was the result of integrated efforts by the college, its faculty members, and its committees. He expressed his appreciation to everyone who contributed to the success of this experience.
He also revealed that the college is approaching the first graduation milestone of its Medicine and Surgery Program.
